Note from the Artistic Director
One fine day in Hërrang I
was sitting with Elliott Donnelly and he had some fliers of Frankie’s
95th Birthday Festival and he said to me, “Hey Ryan if
you have any ideas for the event we are open to them.” So I suggested
why not do a show based on Frankie’s book, because I felt today we
had the talent that was now capable of recreating the movie clips and
the essence of Frankie’s career. Ten months later this moment is being
realized. We are happy that Frankie, wherever he is, will see this show and will appreciate the effort that we have made to give him the best birthday present we thought we could give.
Special Thanks:
- The whole production
team
- The organizers, staff, and volunteers of Frankie’s 95th
Birthday Festival
- George Gee and his fantastic musicians
- Lawrence Bell and Matt Bedell for being costume wizards
- Margaret Batiuchok for tracking down dancers
- Valerie Salstrom
for getting today's kids dancing
- Larry Schulz at Sandra Cameron Dance Center
- Elena Iannucci at Dance Manhattan
- The one and
only Frankie Manning for not only inspiring this show but the world's
dancers
There will
be no videotaping, flash photography, or cell phones allowed during
the show. Thank you very much.
